In SAS^® applications, the default behavior for the Theme service's internal and external connections is as follows:

• The internal connection defaults to the value of the external connection.
• If you change the external connection, the internal connection also changes to reflect the external connection's new value.
• If you change the internal connection first (for example, you change it and the revert it back to the original internal value), the two values remain independent of each other.

Therefore, it is possible that changes to the connection properties for the Theme service might not function as expected because of the design of the Theme service. Potentially, this behavior can cause problems in a situation where the external and internal connections are different by necessity.

Starting with the second maintenance release of SAS^® 9.4 (TS1M2), the user interface for SAS^® Management Console user is updated so that the internal and external connection information for the Theme service appears on the same tab. For the external connection information, there is now a check box showing that it uses the internal values by default. You can check or clear this check box according to your preference for the connection.
